Current Thoughts + The Best Lilly Pulitzer Sale

Dream

Hi guys…Happy Monday! Just some brief thoughts today — lots going on over here but I wanted to pop in with these words that are currently inspiring me. As I mentioned on Friday, changes to the site are coming (very!) soon and I’m working with Meli to wrap things up. In the meantime, you can shop one of my favorite sales of the year — the Lilly Pulitzer semi-annual sale (known this year as the After Party Sale.) It starts at 8 a.m. today. This is by far the best time of the year to buy Lilly — all kind of products + styles are deeply discounted and shipping is still free. Make sure you complete your purchase as soon as you add something to your cart — just because it’s in your cart doesn’t mean it’s on hold. Since shipping is free, Lilly encourages you to make multiple purchases if necessary. The signature stores often partake in the sale as well, so it’s worth stopping by if there’s one nearby. Things notoriously go fast, so get shoppin’!

Lilly Pulitzer Fall 2014 Picks

Lilly-New-Arrivals

I think this is the first time that I’ve dedicated an entire post to a brand’s new collection (but I kind of love it, so consider yourselves warned) … how good are these new arrivals from Lilly Pulitzer? As many of you probably know, the brand is known for its colorful prints — Lilly got her start after working a juice stand and spilling brightly colored juices all over her apron. That explains why some of the older prints are extra vibrant and a little more abstract! In any case, I’ve always been equally impressed by their solids — they actually make up most of the Lilly that I own — and sidenote, the Cassie dresses are a dream. I decided to focus on mostly solids for the fall collection and love how a) work appropriate so many of the pieces are and b) how things seem to be a little more budge-friendly than usual. Lilly can be quite the investment (albeit worth it since the quality is so good and the pieces are so timeless) but it’s nice to know you can snag what might be the perfect tank top for under $40. Bonus points for the abundance of navy + gold, but no surprise there. And for those of you who want something more vibrant, more pieces come in multiple colors. View the whole collection here.

Any particular favs from the new arrivals? For those of you who are going to miss summer, I’ll be these are making it a little more bearable!

Things I Love Thursday

Things-I-Love-Thursday

Is it bad that I’m already itching towards fall clothing? Blame the Nordstrom Anniversary Sale (post to come on Friday!)…

IN THIS POST:

ONE/ BaubleBar x SS Ring: I’ve never been much of a cocktail ring person until recently, but I’m warming up to them! I actually really want this one — no surprise, since I want literally everything in Grace’s BaubleBar collection.
TWO/ Joules Parka: Ok so here’s where I’m guilty of being ready for fall … this color would go great with jeans and leggings, both of which are no-brainer fall wardrobe staples in my book.
THREE/
Lilly Pulitzer Murfee Scarf: Scarves in warm weather are acceptable when Lilly is involved! The murfee scarves are great for having on hand at overly-air conditioned restaurants and on chilly nights. Pom poms are everywhere right now and I kind of love it!
FOUR/
Gap Wedge Sandals: There are currently limited sizes left (Gap restocks online fairly regularly, so you may be in luck if you check back!), but these shoes are on major sale and look incredibly comfy, chic, and versatile.
FIVE/
Old Navy Boxers: Comfy + summery PJ bottoms.
SIX/
Sole Society Tassel Necklace: I’m in the market for a tassel necklace, preferably gold… this one’s a steal at $12!
SEVEN/
Goodnight Macaroon Embroidered Tunic: This is listed as a beach coverup but I think it would be great with denim shorts for a casual summer brunch outfit. It’s also billowy enough for those prone to nasty sunburns!

Outfit: Floral

You know the feeling when you’ve been eying a particular piece of clothing for what seems like forever and then it’s finally yours? That’s this dress for me. The obsession began  as soon as I first saw it online almost two years ago and it had.to.be.mine. I mean, navy with subtle pops of color in the perfect length? And flowers? What a keeper. It’s so versatile, timeless, neutral yet not a neutral (tell me this makes sense), and fits like a glove. Can this just be my summer outfit? I’ve worn it out to dinner, brunch, and graduation festivities so far. Lilly + Jacks and some simple jewelry … less is more, right?!

I’m Loving: Lilly Pulitzer

Lilly-Pulitzer

If you ask me to name a company I admire, 99% of the time my answer is going to be either Nordstrom or Lilly Pulitzer. Not only does Lilly have a fantastic backstory (I want this book!), but the overall aesthetic, culture, and message of the name epitomizes grace + class. Fun, bright, preppy colors? Sign me up, please!

One of the things I love most about Lilly is the way they’ve cultivated their brand. Their customers are the most loyal fans I’ve ever seen and keep coming back year after year…myself included. I mean, have you heard about how shoppers crash their website during their semi-annual sales?

It was only a couple of years ago that I got my first Lilly dress, but it started a love affair that I know will last forever. I can’t help but scour the website on the reg, and these are some of my current favorite dresses. Some solids, lots of prints, and a whole lotta consistency. Perfect in my book! And between the other apparel and vast array of accessories, trust me when I say there’s something for everyone (ok well not everyone, but you get my drift).
