Friday Things

Happy Valentine’s Day, friends! DC got a decent amount of snow yesterday, so that was fun! Not quite as much as I’m used to, but enough to put most of the city into a state of panic. It was a great day to bake (recipe coming next week!) and relax indoors.

Like I mentioned, I’m not huge on this holiday– while I completely support all things pink + red and hearts and flowers, I think it’s a little blown out of proportion and can get unnecessarily expensive and overdone with fancy floral arrangements, elaborate gifts, a tasting menu at a swanky restaurant, etc. What about showing people that kind of love any day of the year? But in any case, it’s fun to get into the spirit of it to an extent– candies, chocolates, flowers, and all. The boyfriend and I are planning a low key night with wine and sushi + the new season of House of Cards. Talk about great timing with that release! It should be fun. What do you have planned? I hope you have a great one and enjoy reminding your friends, family, significant other, pets (yep), how much you care about them! xox

Of note…

– I love this story on why you should learn French. I took it for a bit in college and am really itching to get back into it. It’s such a beautiful language and one of my best friends is currently abroad in France teaching English!

– Regardless of your political views, Michelle Obama looked stunning in Carolina Herrera at this week’s State Dinner.

– Three of my favorites from fashion week: Kate Spade, Erin Fetherston, and Lela Rose.

– I’m obsessed with these — well done, Zara!

– Tinder at the Olympic Village. This is too good.

– Craving Supal’s strawberry trifle recipe… so yummy!
