Outfit: Weekend Wear

Ever since I went off to college, I started this thing where I’d come home for the holidays and ask my dad if he had any sweaters he was willing to spare. I’ve always admired my dad’s impeccable style, plus can’t get enough of cozy, oversized sweaters in the fall and winter. I also quite frequently find myself being drawn to mens sweaters and sweatshirts…it’s been a thing for years and I haven’t grown out of it.

Since sweaters + black leggings = practically my seasonal uniform, I’ve been lucky enough to inherit a few sweaters and flannels that my dad was ready to part with. This is one of my favorites… a neutral, comfy, high quality sweater that lasted him for years. It’s just long enough to wear with leggings and can easily be dressed up or down. I’ve worn it under coats, with jeans, with statement necklaces, with scarves…it’s in heavy rotation from October-March.

Spring may be around the corner, but it’s still chilly enough for favorite sweaters– plus, snow in DC today, whee!. In my mind, this outfit is the perfect weekend attire…comfy and pulled together with lots of basic styling potential. And the sun was doing some crazyy things yesterday, as you can see with the last picture. Do you incorporate cozy mens sweaters into your winter wardrobe too? Do share!

  1. This is pretty much my ideal daily outfit. I would ask my dad for a sweater (he is always trying to get rid of them), but I’m afraid they’d drown me (he’s 6’5″). Worth a shot, though! Not something I’ve considered before.
