Recipe: Yellow Cake Cookies

One evening a couple of weeks ago, my friends and I impulsively decided that we wanted to make cookies. Too lazy to actually make them from scratch, we opted for a simpler recipe that I’d never tried or heard of before. The main ingredient was a box of yellow cake mix, and the cookies were incredible. We used milk chocolate chips instead of semisweet, which I think ended up being a good choice. The cookies were soft and chewy and tasted exactly like the ingredients: yellow cake with chocolate. I will definitely be making these again and am eager to try variations of the recipe with different kinds of cake mixes!

Yellow Cake Cookies


– 1 (18.25 ounce) package yellow cake mix
– 1/2 cup butter, softened
– 2 eggs
– 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
– about 1 cup milk chocolate chips


Preheat oven to 350°F.

In a large bowl, mix together cake mix, butter, eggs and vanilla until blended. Definitely use an electric mixer, unless you’re like us and don’t have one or want a solid arm workout. Stir in chocolate chips.

Spoon teaspoon dollops of mixture onto lightly greased baking sheet and bake for approximately 10 minutes. Cool on wire rack.
